Constant width seattube cutout – Most cutouts in aero seattubes vary in width as you move up and down. This is not ideal with a tire behind it that has a constant shape. The P2 cutout has a constant width that carefully matches the following tire, thereby greatly improving aerodynamics.

Aero headtube - no bulky nose cone, but an extremely thin, aerodynamically optimized shape

CCS - Constant Cross-section Seattube - The airflow over the seattube is predominantly horizontal. The new seattube shape has a cross section shape that is separately optimized everywhere between bottom bracket and the seatstay joint.

IAA seatpost – Cervélo’s Integrated Accessory Attachment allows you to securely attach a behind-the-seat carriage system – no need to clamp anything to the saddle or around the seatpost. Several manufacturers, such as Xlab-usa (Carbon Sonic and Sonic Wing are not sold through Cervélo and Cervélo has no connection with Xlab-usa), make components to fit the IAA system.

Integrated Seattube collar – Invisible to the airflow, while still allowing the seatmast to be removed, this design is both the most aero and allows for easy traveling and adjustment.

ICS Internal CableStops - Cervélo’s standard setting cable routing system. Easy to install, easy to service, easy to keep clean and improved aerodynamics..

Upgrades from the P1

More aerodynamic frame – By exploiting the opportunities of carbon fiber, the headtube, downtube and rearwheel cutout are further improved. The seattube collar is also fully aerodynamically integrated.

Lighter frame – While the P1 already has a very competitive weight, the P2C shaves another 100g off.

Lighter, more aero fork - The P2 comes standard with the 3T Funda Pro fork.

Lighter, more aero seatpost - The P2 seatpost has a better thickness-to-chord ratio.

Componentry – The P2 is also available in a DuraAce component kit .

TrueAero™

Airplanes require different airfoils than bicycles. Sounds logical, but many companies are so proud to say their airfoils come from the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics (NACA). So did we, 13 years ago. But now, we design our own specific airfoils, and it has led to significant improvements. It’s one of the reasons why we spend weeks and weeks in the windtunnel each year, not hours (if any) as is customary in the industry. When you have the most and the best engineers working on aerodynamic improvements and you give them more time to play in the windtunnel sand box than anybody else, you end up with faster bikes. Simple.

Smartwall for Carbon

Patent-pending technology from our carbon materials and manufacturing group, Smartwall elaborates on the Squoval tubeshape. With the sides far away from the center plane more important, we concentrate more material there to increase the benefit. Strips of High and Ultra-high modulus carbon stiffen the sides of the main tubes to resist lateral bending. These strips are feathered in to properly transfer the loads from the joints into these tubes. Finally, we add Kevlar to the headtube/downtube area for industry-leading impact strength.
